The Mediating Effect of Negative Urgency on Negative Affect and Binge Eating: Positive Affect as a Mediated Moderator
Park So-Hyun

Yang Jae-Won
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of positive affect (PA) in the path of negative urgency (NU) and negative affect (NA) to binge eating behavior (BE). A total of 378 women participated in the study and completed self-report questionnaires on NA, PA, NU, and BE. The results are as follows: First, there was a significant mediating effect of NU in the path of NA to BE. Second, a mediated moderator model of PA was identified in the mediation model above. Especially, PA played a positive role in the conditional direct effect of the mediating model and a negative role in the conditional indirect effect. Implications for future research are discussed.
